We all want our kids to have fun drawing, as well as challenge them so that they improve at the same time.

But with just so many to choose from, finding the perfect children’s art book can be hit or miss.

Here are the top 5 children’s art books we’ve reviewed, to narrow down your options so you can give your child the perfect gift.

5. How to Draw for Kids

How to Draw for Kids by Dylanna Press | $3.99

A simple and fun book with enough drawings to keep busy.

There are no page numbers or contents page, but it’s a budget-friendly book that’s good for getting kids who have never drawn into art.

4. Kawaii: How to Draw Really Cute Stuff

Kawaii: How to Draw Really Cute Stuff by Angela Nguyen | $8.89

This book is packed full of gorgeous drawings, with most pages having about 3 drawings, each with it’s own personality.

Although the book is beautifully illustrated, the sacrifice that comes with having so many drawings is that there aren’t many steps for each, usually only two – step 1, step 2, done.

This fast pace might be a little confusing, but the illustrations and beautiful layout are enough to make up for it.

3. How to Draw All the Things

How to Draw All the Things by Alli Koch | $13.46

Here is a great example of how simplicity works when done correctly.

With no complications, it displays the steps and title for each drawing clearly and intuitively.

Each drawing has a fact at the start of it too which is a nice touch.

A bit on the pricy side but a quality book,

1. How to Draw Impressive Things

How to Draw Impressive Things Step by Step by Joshua Jay | $5.99

This is the type of book that when you’re finished any of its drawings you look back and think “Wow, did I really draw that?”.

The drawings are clean, cute and diverse, with the steps laid out in the most intuitive way I’ve seen so far.

Another thing I love about this book is its chapters. They’re separated by difficulty as opposed to by category. I haven’t seen this in a children’s art book before but it’s a game-changer.

It’s a new release so it’s drawings are modern and up-to-date with the demands of today’s generation of kids. The price is surprisingly low because of how new it is, but hopefully it stays that way for a while.

The title really doesn’t dissapoint – this book will have your kids drawing things that impress everyone around them, including (and most importantly!) themselves.
